Olympic Display
The local physiotherapy and sports injury clinic at it again. Better not mention details else the IOC police arrive and incarcerate everyone.
Sunday 29 July 2012
Bonnington Bridge
The flood works have featured several times. This is the view back to the bridge which is where the other shots were taken. Wall nearly complete.

Benchmark
Nowadays the term "benchmark" will usually be in some business comparison for people or products with the benchmark being some standard to measure against. It was originally a term from surveying and the most common benchmarks you see are like this one, an Ordnance Survey cut mark, usually in stone. This one is cut into Libberton Church. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benchmark_(surveying)
I suppose we will be inundated by sporting benchmarks in the next few weeks.

Telescope
Nelson's Monument on Calton Hill. A big stone rocket. Actual heat and sunshine in Edinburgh, summer even.
Tuesday 24 July 2012
The Sheridan
Not a large hotel but a local B & B in Bonnington Terrace, part of Newhaven Road. Always a nice garden.
Monday 23 July 2012

Candlemaker Row and Greyfriars
A genuine summer morning but dulled down this afternoon. One side of Candlemaker Row backs onto Greyfriars Kirkyard so the buildings come with built-in tombstones. The plain headstone in the foreground marks the resting place of John Gray, master of Greyfriar's Bobby. You could rent a flat in one of the houses. http://www.embracescotland.co.uk/property_details.asp?property_id=527

Water of Leith
Back to summer. Fairly heavy rain for most of the day. If Tony had been put back in place he would probably have been submerged by now. (If he had been put back in place he would certainly have "collapsed" again).

MSP Offices
Some of the offices for MSPs in the "squashed in" Parliament building. Some sunshine and heat for a change.
Sunday 15 July 2012
Swanston
Only little sprinklings of rain with some sunshine and a bit blowy. Swanston is a little enclave just south of the City Bypass by the Ski Slope. Connections with Robert Louis Stevenson. http://www.swanston.co.uk/village/index.php

Holy Corner
So called due to the number of proximate church buildings. Took this as we emerged from a "Birthday Do" just because the sun was shining. The building is the Eric Liddle Centre http://www.ericliddell.org/

Quote
On the Mound on the steps leading Makar's Court and the Writers Museum.

Stockbridge Colonies
The flood works on the Water of Leith. The section in the distance sans a bit of concrete wall is where the flooding occurred.

Graduation
An indoor event to avoid the rain, (although it hasn't been too bad today). A guest photo from Desmond Ryan again. Local boy made good, Sir Tom Farmer, doing the honours in his capacity as Chancellor.
Sunday 8 July 2012
Stockbridge
The cricket ground at Arboretum Ave. The Water of Leith bursting it's banks yesterday left the ground somewhat unplayable.
Saturday 7 July 2012
Sunshine ?
Glimpses of it anyway between the downpours. Looking east from Corstorphine Hill towards the City and Calton Hill with E Lothian in some sun. Bits of Stockbridge, the Colonies, flooded today. The Met Office blames the Jet Stream but I think the Bankers are behind it.
