Tony Mystery Solved (I Think)

I had occasion to make a delivery to the National Galleries Depot in Granton today.  One of the staff said that he understood Tony to be spring-loaded.  If enough pressure builds up due to flow and entrapment of debris or a dunt from a passing log the statue is released and blockage will cease.  Exactly how this would work I have no idea.  The waters are receding and a bit clearer.  You can see the base in the water and the metal base of the sculpture at right angles. His legs are just visible and he appears to have trapped a tree branch.  He hasn't disappeared, just bathing.

  1. spring loaded?
does this mean he will bounce back up when derbris has passed?

  2. Unidirectional but it would be great if it did. Would scare someone half to death. Should be modified at once.
