Playfair Steps
The steps are the short cut up the Mound, just by the National Gallery. As you emerge at the top you confront the Black Watch memorial.

Old Craig
This building is part of Napier University. I like the old building but I can't find any info on it.

Bollywood in the Rain
Earlier in the day, driving round Holyrood Park, we spotted a large film crew, all Indian setting up near Dunsappie Loch behind Arthur's seat. We come home and find this scene in Newhaven. Crollas shop in Newhaven Main Street, (now sadly closed after 100 + years of business), has been turned into "Kashmir Home" and giant artificial suns shine through the windows while the air is filled with that distinctive Bollywood music.

Tony Mystery Solved (I Think)
I had occasion to make a delivery to the National Galleries Depot in Granton today. One of the staff said that he understood Tony to be spring-loaded. If enough pressure builds up due to flow and entrapment of debris or a dunt from a passing log the statue is released and blockage will cease. Exactly how this would work I have no idea. The waters are receding and a bit clearer. You can see the base in the water and the metal base of the sculpture at right angles. His legs are just visible and he appears to have trapped a tree branch. He hasn't disappeared, just bathing.

Missing in Action?
I didn't think I would be returning to my little obsession with "Tony" just so soon but, as you can see above, the local Tony has disappeared. "Heavy" weather has swollen the river somewhat and the silt being moved downriver makes it opaque. Is he under the surface? Stolen? Being repaired? Compare the photo above with the one taken on 25th June titled "The Local Tony", right hand panel.. Honest, he hasn't been Photoshopped out.

Flying Ants
Maybe not quite biblical proportions but a plague of the beasties nevertheless. These two roaming on car roofs but the majority being pedestrians. Whence from?

Flotsam
The rains have abated for a bit but Tony has become a bit of a filter and has attracted some unwelcome attention to his eyes.

Suction
The sunny, dry summer we have been enjoying has been replaced by the more traditional torrential downpours. It's a good job these boys are on the job letting it all drain away.
The weather is also interfering with our local mural but I think we can see what the premises will be used for.

Spray Painting
An empty industrial unit opposite work has been let and this spray job would appear to be a clue to the business.

Murmur
This sign is about 9 feet up a lamppost. I frequently pass it but never stopped to examine it before. According to the website the sign has been removed. (The phone number certainly doesn't work any more). It was part of a project which apparently finished in 2009 so I am obviously not very observant. Some content is still available on line. There is a link at the site listed below.

Thistle Do
Plenty of these emerging after the warm sunny weather and then some rain. Good at colonising waste ground. These just along at the end of the street from work.
