From Calton Hill. Packed into it's tight site the old and the new. The Burns memorial in the foreground.

Royal Highland Show
This is a picture of "grass". Or what grass looks like after 2 days heavy rain and a lot of tramping for the next 2 days. This is a lot better than the "car parks" aka adjoining fields where if you got stuck in the mud you had to pay £8.00 for a tow to get you out after having paid £8.00 to park in the first place. If you tried to get here on Sunday afternoon, coming from Edinburgh, the tailback from the Gogar roundabout meant the last 2 miles took about 1.5 hours, (you could walk it in 30 minutes). This is the same road that serves the Airport. The chaos was awesome. A regular occurrence at the RHS which "they" seem unable or unwilling to resolve. And even once you arrived after enduring this cobblers you would have to have forked out the entire cost for the day of £20 for the last couple of hours. A triumph of organisation and marketing!

Maybury Casino
The weather continues to be foul, thunder and lightening with downpours. Passing in the dark and the phone again. It is actually a rather nice Art Deco style building.

Midsummer in Edinburgh
A view which I have used many times looking over to the new developments in Leith Harbour. Gone is the Sun.

Tram Works
Taken from a bus and looking along towards Shandwick Place from West Maitland Street. How could you possibly need to do this twice?

Knox and the Bins
John Knox's House on the Royal Mile. Is this mess of bins really necessary. Couldn't they be lifted at night?

Montrose
James Graham, Marquis of Montrose. The tomb in St Giles High Kirk in the Royal Mile. His arch enemy, Archuibald Campbell, 1st Marquis of Argyll, lies on the opposite side of the kirk. Both eventually executed in times of turmoil and political complexity. See the Wiki entry

Under Construction
You can't escape this symbol of corporate greed. This monstrosity, far removed from the main event, does nothing but spoil the tourist's view of Ramsay Gardens.
