Door Knocker
Not just any knocker but the knocker from Alexander McCall Smith's "44 Scotland Street". To be more exact, the knocker on artist and illustrator Iain McIntosh's door, which he used as the basis for his design in the series. Needless to say it isn't in Scotland Street and not at any 44 either.

The Banana Flats
Correctly "Cables Wynd House" is an early 60's council development. Home of "Sick Boy" from "Trainspotting". The flats have a distinct bend and hence the nickname. Looking down Henderson Street in Leith.

Snow
This is how the day started. Miserably dull with a little of the white stuff. It then got worse and very wet.
