The view along Bellvue Road to the castle.  It's back there in the gloom.  Winter returns.

This photo from the opposite end to the last one.  Bright but cold again but not as much ice as the previous shot, (January 8th).  In the past a bustling working quay.  Now the bustle is in food and drink and people.  Restraunts, bistros, bars and of course, new housing.

Memorial in Leith

The previous post reminded me of this connection.  The worst ever rail accident in Britain.

The plaque has the necessary information. 

Newhaven Station

My comment on the last post was flawed.  The old station was in Craighall Rd, one street west and not directly behind me.  The blue painted metal marks the extent of the railway bridge.  The old station building is on an independent gantry above the line of the tracks.  For many years the building was used by a local carpentry firm but is now just a deteriorating hulk.

 The other photo is a view from the previous bridge in the direction of the station showing the walkway/cycle track.  Most of the local rail network was in such cuttings.

Whalebrae

The view from the top of Whalbrae in Newhaven.  This used to look out over the old rooftops to the Forth. Now just congested with "developments".

Platinum Point - Dusk

This development, seen here from above the old terraced houses on Lower Granton Rd, is part of the extensive waterfront "regeneration" along the Forth.  Essentially on the site of the old Henry Robb shipyard.  Most of this work has ground to a halt courtesy of Le Crunch.  So if you have some cash to spare there are penthouses aplenty at a discount.
