Whalebrae

The view from the top of Whalbrae in Newhaven.  This used to look out over the old rooftops to the Forth. Now just congested with "developments".

  1. Blow them all up, I say...

Is that a relic of the old Newhaven Railway that I see? Made me do a bit of research. I was aware of the lost heritage of Edinburgh lines, and used the converted footpaths a lot, without really thinking what it would be like if they were still actually railways. And I was surprised to be reminded of the extent.

  2. No. Your imagination runs riot. But actually you are not far off. If you retreated towards the city for about 400 metres from the spot the shot was taken you would be at the old nehaven Station. I will take a shot of what remains of this and post it. It is a great shame that the old lines have not been used for some form of public transport but it at least is of benefit to cyclists.
