The powers that be now have the real deal sitting on Princes St. The Trams are the most controversial thing that has happened in the last 20 years. The disruption has been enormous and the service will not start till 2012.

Jesus wept. I don't want to sound negative, but think this is fruitless disruption just so the city fathers can pretend they have a progressive transport policy. I wont tell you how long it took them in Zurich to build a new tramline, including elevated sections, I notice those nice cobbled bits - ha ha - do they realise that the tracks will require pretty regular maintenance and replacement? That'll be fun. In Zurich they replace the rails without stopping the trams.

Most of Edinburgh would agree with you. It is a continental company that is responsible for the work.
ReplyDeleteOf course it is. And the French will be building the nuclear power stations. Does anyone in the UK actually do anything any more - other than the Banks of course....
