Out of town visiting the Isle of Bute. Sticking to a transport theme. I have always liked this old station, its glory days long gone, but the basic structure still fine.
Yes I can see the similarities. A more modern version. The Weemys Bay station had the feel of a glasshouse at the Botanics. Always very light and in the "old days" festooned with beautiful hanging flower baskets. There is a covered section that slopes down to the pier in a sweeping curve. This used to be lined with display cases with the decorations from the old steamers paddle boxes. If it was Switzerland it would still be like that.
They're actually very unsentimental in Switzerland. They only keep old stuff if it still works and serves a purpose - there is little of the sort of museum mentality
